The Landscape in the US

• 79% of people who leave the Church do so by the age of 23. 
• More than 7 in 10 former Catholics say they just gradually drifted away from their childhood faith with only 10% saying their faith was strong prior to their leaving it.
• 1 in 10 American adults is a former Catholic.
• Many of those who have become unaffiliated remain open to the possibility that they could someday find a religion that suits them.

At the Newman Center in the last 10 years

• We have had to move Mass from the small chapel to the large space.
• Our activities, Newman Nights, retreats and special events have more than doubled in attendance.
• We have had nine young men enter seminary.
• 11 students became Catholic last year.
• Over 100 students attend weekly Bible studies.
• 125 students, on average, attend Newman Nights each week. 
• 180 students participate in the Lumberjack Awakening fall and spring retreats each year.
